Kourtney is in her 23rd year in education and currently serves as the Director of Innovation for Henrico County Public Schools. She started her career as a middle school social studies teacher at Brookland Middle, then moved into instructional technology as an ITRT at Moody and Quioccasin Middle Schools. From there, she served as a High School Specialist, Assistant Director of Instructional Technology, and Director of Teaching, Learning, and Innovation.
Now, Kourtney leads systemwide innovation work, supporting a central team of specialists, 68 Innovation Learning Coaches (ILCs), and 89 librarians across the division. Her work focuses on advancing the Henrico Learner Profile (HLP), digital literacy and citizenship, LifeReady Innovations (including generative AI, esports, STEM, and FIRST LEGO League), and LifeReady Learning Environments (such as learning space redesign and innovation hubs). She’s a systems thinker and strategic planner who’s passionate about designing equitable, LifeReady learning experiences for all students.
