Nicole Sanchez-Coe is a dedicated educator with over 18 years of experience in the classroom. Her career began in New York City, where she was selected as a Teaching Fellow and launched her work in education at a middle school in the Bronx. During this time, she earned her Master’s Degree in Secondary Education from Lehman College, building on her academic foundation from Virginia Commonwealth University, where she graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Humanities and Sciences.
In 2007, Nicole relocated to Virginia and taught at Dinwiddie High School before making a long-term impact at Varina High School, where she served for 15 years. At Varina, Nicole took on multiple leadership roles including Community Liaison, English 10 Team Leader, Admin Aide, and Equity Ambassador Sponsor. She also coordinated the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities programming, spearheading initiatives with the Equity Ambassadors to foster a more inclusive and supportive environment for all students.
Nicole is now a School Quality Specialist with the Department of School Quality. In this role, she supports schools across the division by guiding improvement efforts through Improvement Science and helping to develop and monitor School Support Plans. Her work continues to be driven by a deep commitment to equity, student success, and community engagement.
